River Sázava springs near a small village Nová Huť in Českomoravská (Bohemian-Moravian) highlands. After a few kilometres it flows to a pond Velké Dářko (206ha), which is the largest pond in Bohemian-Moravian highlands and visitors can enjoy various water sports here. When the river leaves Velké Dářko, it flows to other ponds (Nový pond, Železný pond, Stříbrný pond, Hamerský pond, dam Pilská – water sports, Bránský pond). A part between Žďár nad Sázavou and Přibyslav is very popular, the river gets bigger there and starts to be faster. Behind Přibyslav, the river gets calmer and flows through cities Havlíčkův Brod and Světlá nad Sázavou. Then there is a wide valley and rapids – well-known Stvořidla. In this place, the river is full of small and big stones, which were brought here by a devil, according to a local legend. Then the river flows around castle Český Šternberk, town Sázava with a famous Sázavský monastery up to Týnec nad Sázavou, where it starts to be faster again, rapids are created and after a few kilometres the river flows to Vltava at a village Davle. The total length is 225 kilometres.
